The temple of Jogulamba may be located inside the same complex as the Temples of Navabrahma. This is a collection of nine Shiva temples that were built between the seventh and eighth century CE by the Badami Chalukyas.
In the religion of Shaktism, the Maha Shakti Peethas are a collection of eighteen (Ashtadasa) temples that are regarded as the most significant shrines and pilgrimage sites. On the banks of the Tungabhadra River, not far from where it joins forces with the Krishna River, lies the city of Alampur.
At the Jogulamba temple, the primary deities that are worshipped are Jogulamba and Balabrahmeswara, which is a manifestation of Shiva. In this temple, the goddess Jogulamba is shown as sitting on a dead body while wearing a lizard, frog, and scorpion atop her head. History Of The Jogulamba Temple
The Jogulamba temple is known as a Shakti Peetha because it is located near the spot where the top teeth of Sati Devi fell. The founding story of the Shakti Peethas may be found in the mythology surrounding the Daksha yagna and the self-immolation of Sati. It is said that the first version of the temple was constructed in the seventh century after Christ. In the year 1390 CE, Bahmani Sultans laid the foundation for the city.
According to legend, Emperor Harihara Raya II of Vijayanagara fortified the temple complex and dispatched his troops to engage in combat with the army of the Bahamani Sultan. This was done in an effort to ward off future assaults. It is reported that the primary idol was moved to the temple of Bala Brahma, which is located nearby and is part of the Navabrahma temple complex. Since that time, the idol has been kept in a private area of the temple of Bala Brahma to be seen by visitors. In 2005, the Jogulamba temple was reconstructed in its previous location, and the old idol was moved to the newly constructed temple.
