Mahabaleshwar Temple Gokarna Darshan Pooja Online Booking And Stala Puranam Story:

Ravana’s mother, who is a devotee of Shiva, prayed to Shiva Linga so that their kingdom would be successful. Lord Indra was angry that she was so devoted to Shiva, so he stole the statue and threw it into the sea. Then Ravana’s mother was upset that she had to stop worshipping. Ravana told her mother that he would get the Atma linga. He worshipped Lord Shiva in the Himalayas, and when that wasn’t enough, he cut off his own head. Lord Shiva was impressed by his devotion, so he gave him the aathmalinga with one condition he couldn’t let it fall from his hands, or it would grow roots there.

Ravana agreed to this condition and moved. In the evening, when he had to do his rituals, he called a cowboy and told him to hold the aathamalinga and not put it down until he came back from his bath. The boy agreed to hold the linga, but he said he would put it down if Ravana didn’t come back after three calls. Lord Ganesh fooled Ravana by pretending to be a cowboy. The cowboy called Ravana three times, but Ravana didn’t answer, so the cowboy kept the aathalinga on the ground. When Ravana tried to pick up the aathalinga, it hit him and grew huge, so he called it “Mahabaleshwar.” The name Gokarna comes from the fact that the cowboy dropped the aathamalinga. Ravana chased the boy and his cows, but all but one of the cows ran away. Ravana then chased the remaining cow and caught its ear.
