Srikalahasti Temple Abhishekam:
Four times a day, Abhishekams are done to Lord Kalahasteeswara and Goddess Gnana Prasunambika. The Abhishekam: Bathing the Lingam is a ritual that is done every day as part of prayers to Lord Kalahasteesvara. The Abhishekam is done with Panchakarpura, which is camphor mixed with water, honey, milk, camphor, and Panchamruta. This is done while chanting the mantra, which means to clean and sing praises to the Lord in a beautiful way. But no one touches the main Lingam, and all the prayers and the Panchkarpura Abhisheka are done for a bronze statue called Utsavamurty. Pilgrims who come to the temple can take part in the Abhishekam, which is done by priests from the Bhardwaja Gotra of the Apsthmaba Sutra as part of their approved Diksha. During the Abhishekam, the Lord is given flowers, sandal paste, and sacred threads.
