A panchangam is an almanack and calendar for Hindus. It uses the traditional units of Hindu timekeeping and lists important dates and how to figure them out. It is sometimes written Panchngamu, Pancanga, Panchanga, Panchanga, or Panchanga, and is often said Panchang. In Jyotisha, people use panchangas (Indian astrology).
A panchangam is a book with notes about the cycles of the planets. It is also called an astronomical text. Panchangam also says that Maharishi accurately predicted many things, such as solar and lunar eclipses, using their knowledge back when there were no modern tools.

How do you figure out the panchangam?
The panchangam calculation needs to know about two important celestial bodies: the sun and the moon. The accuracy of the panchangam will depend on how well the sun and the moon are known. In the past, there were many ways to figure them out. Surya Siddhanta is the oldest, Vakyam Siddhanta is another, and Driga Ganita is the most recent (Thirukanitha). The Vakyam is an old system that uses simple sentences to explain how the planets move (hence the vakya). The author of Surya Siddhantha says that to make a correct panchangam, one should watch the sky and make any necessary changes to the planetary formulas (Bija samskar).
The main parts of an panchangam:
The name Panchangam shows that it is made up of five parts. These five things are part of traditional ways of measuring time. These things:

Week:
Here week means seven weeks.
Didi:
Tithi is the amount of time it takes for the Moon to go around the Earth 30 times in 30 equal segments. From the new moon to the next new moon, there are 15 tithis. From the full moon to the next new moon, there are another 15 tithis.
Karanam:
Karana is the word for the beginning and end of a tithi. Karanam is half of what Tithi is. Tithi is split in half, with one karana for the early part and another for the later part. That means there are a total of 60 karanas on the 30 Tithis. Seven karanas are in spiral mode and four are in special mode. This adds up to a total of 11 karanas with names, out of a total of 60 karanas.
Star:
Each Star Nakshatra is 13.33 pagas long and represents one of the 27 parts of the zodiac. When the Moon goes around the Earth at a certain time, the nakshatra of that part of the sky is said to be moving.
Yoga:
Yoga is the time it takes for the Moon to move through each Nakshatra. So, they have given 27 names to the times when all 27 Nakshatras are in the sky at the same time.
There are two kinds of almanacks.
- Thirukanitha Panchangam
- Vakya Panchangam
The difference between Vakya Panchangam and Thirukanitha Panchangam is no more than 17 Nazhikas. This difference will happen up to 6 hours and 48 minutes later. On Amavasai and Pelarnami days, this difference is not very big. On Ashtami and Navami days, this difference is more noticeable. In temples run by the government of Tamilnadu, Vakya panchangam is used.
Vakya panchangam:
It is a panchangam that was written using the same math system as the hymns that the Rishis put together thousands of years ago. Vakya Almanac comes out as an Almanac that hasn’t been changed. A sentence is a mathematical copy of the old one that doesn’t change anything.
In Tamil Nadu, many people follow Vaya Panchangam. A number of Vakya Almanacs are published in Tamil Nadu: Arkadu Sri Seetharamaiyar Sarva Mukurtha Panchangam, Tirunelveli Vakya Panchangam, Ramanathapuram Vakya Panchangam, 28 No. Pambu Panchangam, Sringeri Mutt Panchangam, Srirangam Vakya Panchangam, Sriprasanna Venkatesa Perumal Devasthana Vakya Panchangam, Thirukoil Anushtana Panchangam. Almanacks.
Only people in Tamil Nadu use these two kinds of almanacks. Other places only use the Thirukanith Panchangam.
