The Chottanikkara Devi Temple symbolizes Bhagavati, a manifestation of Mahalakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. The temple has a history of successfully treating mental ailments and diseases that were thought to have been caused by evil spirits.

- The temple hosts a feast annadanam for all pilgrims on Chingam–Thiruvonam.
- The Kanni – Navarathri aghosham is a well-attended religious event. The Navarathri utsavam’s Vidyarambham takes place on Vijayadasami.
- The whole Vrishchikam season is dedicated to the Vrishchicka Mandala Mahotsavam (festival). Annadanam, theatrical shows, Naama japam, and other rituals are performed daily.
- Kumbam is the time of year when the temple celebrates its yearly celebration. Kodiyettu (Flag hoisting ceremony) kicks off the festivities on Rohini day, and the festival concludes on Uthram star, a span of nine days. Pooram ezhunnellippu, featuring 7 elephants, is performed twice daily, in the morning and evening.
- Medam – Three elephants will carry the rituals of Vishukani, Vishusadya, and ezhunellippu on Vishu day.
- This time is designated as Ramayana Month or Karkitakam. Puranam – Ramayanam, Bhagavatham, etc. readings, annadhanam – devotional food and discourse, and William Nira the first offering of the year’s rice harvest are all performed on a daily basis.
- Tuesdays and Fridays are the most crowded days at the Bhagavathy temples. Currently, there is a lot of activities held.
