History Of Mahadev Temple

It is said in mythology that Sati, Daughter of Daksha Prajapati, wed Lord Siva despite his will. To humiliate his Son-in-Law, Daksha considered performing Yagna. Save for Lord Siva and His Ganas, Daksha invited every Deva in existence. Sati, upon learning of this Yagna, contacted her father to give him his advice. Daksha belittled Sati in front of the company.

As a result of her anger, Sati committed suicide by setting fire to herself in the Yoga Agni. An enraged Lord Siva gave the order for Veerabhadra to kill Daksha and put an end to the Yagna ritual. Veerabhadra, aided by the Kali and Siva Ganas, ended the Yagna and killed all of the Dakshas. It was here that Daksha conducted the Yagna. Lord Shiva is the focus of worship at this temple. In the 11th century A.D., this temple was constructed.
