Shri Mahalakshmi Temple, Bhulabahi Desai Road, Mumbai – 400 026 is run by a religious and charitable trust called Shri Mahalakshmi Temple Trust. The Mahalakshmi Temple has three deities: Shri Mahalakshmi, Shri Mahakali, and Shri Mahasaraswati. The board of trustees wants to make a website so that devotees all over the world can learn about it. During Navaratri, Diwali, and the month of Margashirsha, that number goes up to hundreds of thousands, because they believe that the Mahalakshmi Deity at the Mahalakshmi Temple is alive.
The devout worshipper thinks of this great power as her three Avatars, Shri Mahakali or Durga, Shri Mahalakshmi, and Shri MahaSarswati, which are all different.

The nine days of worship during Navaratri are split into three groups of three days each. We worship the mother in the form of “Shri Mahakali” or “Durga” for the first three days. We worship her in the form of “Shri Mahalakshmi” for the next three days, and we worship her in the form of “Shri Mahasarswati” for the last three days.
Kolhapur Mahalaxmi Temple legend:
According to the story, the Hindus threw the three statues of the Goddesses into the sea near Worli creek to keep the Muslim invaders from breaking them. Then, when Britain was in charge, Lord Horneby decided to connect the two islands through the Worli-Malbar Hill Creek. He gave the job to a government engineer named Shri Ramji Shivji Prabhu, who worked with other engineers and technicians to try to connect the two islands (creeks). They couldn’t connect two islands by building two ways, and they couldn’t finish the project because of the sea waves.
In a dream one night, Shri Mahalakshmi Goddess told him to take all the idols out of the creek in Worli and put them on top of the hillock. He promised the Goddess that he would take them out of the sea or creek and put them in a temple on top of the hillock. So, the people who were building the bridge between Worli Creek and Malbar Hill Creek took all three mataji idols out of Worli Creek. Then he was finally able to connect the two creeks. After this job was done, the English Ruler gave Engineer some land on the hillock as a gift. He then spent Rs.80,000/- to build a temple to Mahalakshmi on top of the hillock. From what we know, this temple was built between the years 1761 and 1771.
