This place of worship is well-known for the Kukke Subramanya temple, which has been there for the last 5000 years and is located on the banks of the Kumaradhara river. According to the epics, the celestial serpent Vasuki and a number of other snakes sought sanctuary in the caverns under the protection of Lord Subrahmanya.
In this location, Lord Subrahmanya is honored in the form of a serpent and a pooja is performed for him. Lord Subrahmanya is fused with the king of serpents, Vasuki. Because of this, it is said to be the greatest consolation for redemption from any kind of Naga Dosha. In addition, a ceremonial dance known as the Nagamandala is performed here
There is an additional account of the events that transpired before to the founding of the Kukke Subramanya Temple. It is also believed by adherents that Sage Kashyapa’s wives, Katru and Vinatha, had a disagreement at one point in time. They came to the conclusion that whoever came out on the losing end of the dispute would be forced to serve the victor in the future. The dispute was decided against Katru, and she and her children were forced to serve Vinatha as a result.

Ashlesha Bali, which translates to “prayers requesting protection from the black snake,” and Sarpa dosha parihara, which translates to “removal of any curse of snake deity,” are two of the most common puja rituals that are performed at the Kukke Subramanya Temple. These rites may also be scheduled using an online booking system.
Those who have the Sarpa Dosha in their horoscope are the only ones who should do the Sarpa Samskara Pooja. The Sarpadosha is a curse that is bestowed upon a person who, either intentionally or unintentionally, caused damage to a Sarpa either in this life or in one of their former lives. Followers of religion believe that one may free themselves from the negative consequences of a curse by reciting certain prayers, or poojas, such as the Sarpadosha and the Ashlesha Bali.

In order to participate in the seva at the temple, the devotee is required to remain there for two days. There is a limit of four people who may participate in the pooja for a single seva. Every day is appropriate for the seva, with the exception of Dasami, fasting days such as the Ekadasis, Grahan, and Shivaratri, and the days when the temple is celebrating its festival.
Vinatha’s son, Garuda, tormented the offspring of the snakes and intended to hurt Vasuki. Vasuki pleaded with Lord Shiva for assistance on his behalf. After then, Lord Shiva made a request to Lord Subrahmanya, asking him to safeguard the snakes from Garuda. Lord Subrahmanya made his way to the location and provided the snakes with protection from Garuda. He decided to make his home among the snakes after they urged him to do so repeatedly.
According to a different narrative, when Lord Subrahmanya had defeated the demon Tarakasura in the conflict, he cleaned his sword in the nearby water stream called “Dhara.” Because of this, people started referring to the stream as the Kumaradhara
