History Of The Temple

One of the robbers made a plea to Sripada Srivallabha in the guise of Shiva, and the saint decided to spare his life. Sripada Srivallabha suddenly materialized out of nowhere and slaughtered the other criminals with his Trishula. After hearing what had happened, the individual who had been spared reconnected Vallabhesh’s severed head to his body so that he may be resurrected by the grace of Sripada Srivallabha.

According to the legends, the first incarnation of Lord Dattatreya in this Kaliyuga was a man named Sripada Srivallabha. He is said to have lived between 1320 AD to 1350 AD. He was the third son of Appalaraja Sarma and Sumathi, both of whom belonged to the Brahmin caste. The brahmin couple was the parents of two children, both of whom were blind and had disabilities. It is reported that a Bhikshu arrived at Appalaraja Sarma’s home in need of sustenance at the same time that he was doing Sraddha for his ancestors.

They provided food to his saint before feeding the visiting Brahmins, treating him as if he was the Dattatreya. A saint who was moved by their piety extended a blessing to the Sumathi. She prayed to the holy man for a son who would be healthy and knowledgeable, and the holy man responded by declaring that she would be blessed with a learned kid who would become the Guru of Gurus. She then prayed for a boy. At the age of seven, SriPada had finished reading the Vedas, and soon after his Upanayanam, he began spreading gyan. When he was 16 years old, his parents began hunting for a potential spouse.

Since he prefers to lead a solitary life, he has assured his parents that he would only wed a “Vairagya Stree,” where “Vairagya” refers to dispassion and “Stree” refers to a woman. He began his journey, and on the way out of the house, he healed his brothers and requested them to take care of their parents. After a brief sojourn in Badri Kedar, located in Northern India, he relocated to Gokarna Mahabaleshwar in Southern India, where he remained for the subsequent three years. The majority of his time was then spent in Kuravpur, which is now the location of the Jurala project, in the Srisailam highlands.
