Vaikuntha Ekadashi, whose name literally translates to “eleventh day,” occurs annually on the eleventh day of the Shukla Paksha in the month known as danger Masam. It is said that ‘Vaikuntha Dwaram,’ also known as the North entrance of Vaikunta, the abode of Shri Vishnu, opens up on this day, making Vaikuntha Ekadashi, also known as mukkoti Ekadashi, an auspicious day for devotees of Shri Vishnu.
This day is referred to as mukkoti Ekadashi in southern India. Mukkoti Ekadashi is so named because three crore devas hold out hope that today would come so that they might have a glimpse of Shri Vishnu (mukkoti means three crores in Telugu). It is thought that a person who observes a holy fast on the day known as Vaikuntha Ekadashi would be able to enter “Vaikuntha” without having to face Yama Raja, the God of Death, on their journey there. In the temple dedicated to Shri Vishnu, there are regular yajnas, as well as special prayers, lectures, and speeches.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board, assembled under the chairmanship of YV Subba Reddy, has examined all of the essential preparations for the Vaikunta Ekadasi celebration. The TTD has made several changes to the technique and process for calculating Vaikunta Ekadashi. In today’s world, the crowds are so large that the TTD often has difficulty maintaining control over them. Notwithstanding this, the TTD is hard at work formulating plans to ensure that ordinary pilgrims would have access to darshan for the duration of the Vaikunta Ekadashi days.
The number of days that the Vaikunta Dwaram may be visited at the temple is thanks to the TTD’s expansion of the opening hours of the shrine. The pilgrims are required to meet all of the deadlines and follow all of the requirements as outlined. Due to the fact that Vaikunta Ekadashi will take place on January 2, 2019.
the TTD has made the decision to keep the Vaikunta Dwara Darshan or the Uttara Dwara Darshanam available to the general public for a total of ten days, beginning on January 2 and ending on January 11. The administration of the temple came to the conclusion that Vaikunta Ekadashi would be observed on January 2, and that Vaikunta Dwadasi would take place the day after that.
