Near Mangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka, the Mookambika Devi Temple of Kollur is one of the most visited religious sites in all of Southern India. Mookambika Devi Temple was designed in the traditional Kerala manner. It has a large courtyard and a vast shrine with a stunning statue of Mookambika Devi as the Jyotir-Linga, a deity that combines Shiva and Shakthi. Panchaloha, an alloy of five metals, was used to craft the statue. The Goddess is shown sitting in Padmasana position, with her hands in abhaya mudra and varada mudra, and holding a ‘Shanku’ and a ‘Chakra’ in her two upper hands.

The Idol is decked up with pricey gold and gems. On each side of the Mookambika Devi are statues of Parvathi and Saraswathi, both of whom are considered to be manifestations of the goddess herself. Smaller shrines to the 10-armed Lord Vinayaka, Subramanya, Anjaneya, Veerabhadra, and Adi Shankara may be found in the hallways around the main sanctuary. Darshan Dress Code:

Men may not enter the inner shrine wearing anything other than a dhoti and undergarments. The upper section of the body might be covered with veshti, a white fabric. Inside the inner temple, shirts, trousers, jeans, Bermuda, lungi, vests, pajamas, and kurtas are not permitted.

Ordering a Kollur Mookambika Darshan Ticket

• There is no admission fee for worshippers to get Darshan.
