A Visit to Melmaruvathur Temple

The Melmaruvathur Temple, also known as the Arulmigu Adhiparasakthi Siddhara Peetham, is located 92 kilometres from Chennai. In the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, 21 siddhar men and women from various religious backgrounds all attained jiva-samadhi at the same time.

Adhi para Sakthi, the heavenly mother, transmigrates into Arulthiru Bangaru Adigalar at Melmaruvathur Adiparashakti Siddhar Peetam, encouraging spirituality and devotion.

The holy darshan of Goddess Adhi Para Sakthi is performed at this location, known as Siddhar Peetham (the word “Siddhar” translates to “enlightened” or “developed souls” in Tamil). Thaipoosam, Telugu New Year’s Day, Tamil New Year’s Day, Adi Pooram, Chitra Pournami, and Navarathri are all observed and celebrated at the Melmaruvathur Temple. The temple doors close for the day at 3 p.m. and do not reopen for darshan until the following morning. Devotees  should become familiar with the Melmaruvathur Temple Timings, which include the Aarti Timings, Darshan Timings, Pooja Timings, and Abhishekam Timings, as well as the temple’s Opening and Closing Times, to ensure that their darshan goes as smoothly as possible.

There was only a neem tree where the current temple’s sanctum sanctorum now stands in the 1960s. Unlike most neem trees, which produce bitter-tasting fruit, this one secreted and dripped delicious honey. The villagers in that village noticed that they wanted to drink the honey from this tree every time they walked by it. The word quickly spread throughout the hamlet and its surroundings because many passersby claimed that drinking this nectar cured their illnesses and maladies. As a result, it became common for locals to give a drop of this nectar to sick friends and family members. They looked after this tree as a medicine and protected it from grazing livestock and woodcutters.
