Srinivasa Mangapuram Legend Story:

Sri Venkateswara Swamy married Akasaraja’s daughter, Sri Padmavathi Devi, in Narayanavanam. He then left for Tirumala, where he lived. On the way, he stopped at the Agastya Maharshi Asram, which is near the Swarnamukhi River. There, he was given food and shelter. Back then, there was a rule that the newlyweds couldn’t go up the hill for six months. So, Sri Venkateswara Swamy and His wife Sri Padmavathi Devi stayed in Maharshi’s Asram for six months. Six months later, he began his trip to Tirumala. Agastya Maharshi asked Sri Venkateswara Swamy to stay there as Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy. Sri Venkateswara Swamy was kind enough to let him do that. Srinivasamangapuram is the name of the place right now.

Srinivasa Mangapuram is 12 km away from the town of Tirupati. It is called Srinivasapuram because Srinivasa swamy used to live there. Over time, it became known as Srinivasa Mangapuram by most people. In the past, people who wanted to go to Tirumala would go through Srivari mettu, which is six kilometres north of Srinivasa mangapuram temple. In those days, people who believed in Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy would go to Srinivasa Mangapuram to see him. People also think that Sri Venkateswara Swamy used to walk through this area after he got married. The holy Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in the Tirumala hills is the same as the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srinivasamangapuram, which is on the ground.

During these utsavams, Kalyana Venkateswara Swami ascends 16 vehicles with His two divine consorts. There will be Vahana sevas in the morning and at night. On the day of Garuda Seva, special jewellery and garlands will be brought from Tirumala and put on Swami. On the ninth day, there will be a big Rathotsavam (chariot) show. On the 10th day, Chakrasnanam brings an end to the Brahmotsavams. Thousands of pilgrims attend these Brahmotsavams to ask Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swami and His Consorts for their blessings.

Srinivasa Mangapuram History:

The temple was built in the typical style of Vijayanagara. The main entrance, which is called Mahadwaram, is set on a 10-foot-tall stone called “Adhishtanam.” Stone statues of Tallapaka Annamacharya and his son Pedda Tirumala Acharya stand on either side of the entrance. Inside the temple, Balipeetam and Dwajasthambam greet the people who come to worship. The main temple stands on an Adhishtanam that is 10 feet tall and faces east. The Mukha Mandapa has 36 carved pillars that make it look beautiful.

The Sanctum Sanctorum is a square building where the pratima of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy stands. It is 10 feet tall and is very kind. When you look at this pratima, you get a divine feeling called “Bhaya Bhakti,” which means “devotion with fear” (of divinity.) Sri Swamy’s beautiful smile will make his followers feel better when they are sad or tired. At Vaikuntam, the grand murti with four arms gives off the beautiful charm of Sri Maha Vishnu.
