The Venkateswara Temple is a significant Vaishnavite temple located in the hill town of Tirumala in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The Temple is devoted to Lord Sri Venkateswara, an avatar of Vishnu, who is said to have arrived here to rescue humanity from the hardships and difficulties of Kali Yuga. Hence, the location is also known as Kaliyuga Vaikuntham, and Lord is referred to as Kaliyuga Prathyaksha Daivam. Tirumala Temple, Tirupati Temple, and Tirupati Balaji Temple are other names for the shrine. Balaji, Govinda, and Srinivasa are a few of Lord Venkateswara’s other names.
Tirumala Hills are included in the range of Seshachalam Hills. The height of the hills above sea level is 853 meters. The Hills are made up of seven peaks, which symbolize the seven heads of Adisesha. The temple is situated atop the seventh peak, Venkatadri, on the southern bank of Sri Swami Pushkarini, a sacred water reservoir. As a result, the temple is often referred to as the “Temple of Seven Hills.” The land area of Tirumala is around 26.75 km2 (10.33 sq mi).

It is thought that the Temple was built over a period of time beginning around 300 A.D., as its Dravidian design suggests. AnandaNilayam is the name of the Garbagriha (Holy of Holies). At the Garbha griha, the presiding deity, Venkateswara, is seated and facing east. The worship in the temple adheres to the Vaikhanasa Agama custom.
The temple is designated as the 106th and last terrestrial Divya Desam and is one of the eight Vishnu Swayambhu Kshetras. The Temple grounds included two contemporary Queue complex buildings for managing the pilgrim rush, the Tarigonda Vengamamba Annaprasadam complex for providing free meals to pilgrims, hair tonsure structures, and a variety of pilgrim accommodation facilities.
