Lord Sri Venkateswara, also known as Srinivasa, Balaji, and Vekaachalapati, made Tirumala his home more than 5,000 years ago. Long before him, Lord Varahaswami had made Tirumala his home. Numerous worshipers then went on to construct ornate entrances on the temple’s walls over time. The 16.2 acres of the temple complex are covered.
The Lord is said to have changed himself into a granite statue in front of his two wives when they questioned him about his remarriage. The confused queens are then confronted by Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva, who reveal the main purpose of this convoluted tale: the Lord’s wish to reside on the holy seven hills in order to free mankind from the eternal suffering and tribulations of the Kali Yuga. The goddesses Lakshmi and Padmavathi also change into stone statues to express their wish to live forever with their Lord. Goddess Padmavati lay on the right side of his chest, and Goddess Lakshmi remained on the left.
