The mythic tale of Guruvayoor Temple Krishnanattam:
During their conversation, King Manaveda shared with Vilwamangalam his desire to see Krishna. The following day, the Swamiyar told him that Guruvayurappan has given his assent, and that Manaveda can witness Guruvayurappan playing in the early hours of the morning at the platform of the Elanji tree. Manaveda can also see Guruvayurappan performing in the evenings at the platform of the Elanji tree. He was only able to observe Him but not touch him.
In accordance with tis arrangement, when Manaveda saw Guruvayurappan in the guise of young child Sri Krishna, he was so overjoyed that he forgot who he was and rushed forward to embrace little Sree Krishna. This was because Manaveda had made a pact with Guruvayurappan. The moment Guruvayoorappan was discovered, he vanished while mumbling, “Vilwamangalam did not tell me that this will happen.” Manaveda, on the other hand, was able to pluck one peacock feather from Bhagavan Krishna’s headdress.
