The Kukke Subramanya temple on the banks of the Kumaradhara river is the reason many people visit this hilly area. According to legend, Lord Subrahmanya provided a safe haven in the caverns for the celestial serpent Vasuki and other snakes. Here, pooja (worship) is performed in honor of Lord Subrahmanya, who is fused with the king of the serpents, Vasuki. as a result, it is often regarded as the last resort for those in need of deliverance from the effects of the Naga Doshas. Kukke Subramanya is one of Saint Parashurama’s seven holy locations. Legend has it that demon kings Tharaka and Shura Padmasurya were slain by Lord Kumaraswamy and Lord Ganesha on Kumara Parvatha, not far from Kukke Subramanya. After his triumph, Lord Kumaraswamy wed Devasena, Indra’s daughter.
