So, most businesses run by professionals also follow Indian customs and plan important business events for good times. Chopda Puja is a religious practise as well. A business needs the blessing of the gods to do well in the coming year.

On Diwali, people worship Goddess Lakshmi, who is the goddess of wealth, Lord Ganesha, who is the god of good fortune, and Kuber ji. On this day, business owners, businesspeople, and companies worship their books, which they call Chopda, and start writing their financial records in new books. Gujaratis believe that Diwali Chopda Puja is like Muhurta Puja for their businesses. Hindu traditions say that Diwali marks the end of the business year.
