It’s the holiest shrine in all of Bobbili, and it’s conveniently adjacent to the palace. Swetha Chalapati Ranga Rao erected the Gopuram (entry tower) in 1851. Its Gopuram towers above the main temple, making it unique among local religious buildings. Ancient, priceless ornaments are placed on the temple’s deity statues during special celebrations.
There is a lake where the Vasant Mandapam is located, and it is peaceful there. Every year at the beginning of spring, devotees of Lord Venugopala Swami bring the temple’s idol to the lake for a festival. In 1825, Maharaja Krishnadas Ranga Rao erected the mandapams.

At Salur, the aristocracy included the Pusapatis, the Ravus of Bobbili, the Varicharlas of Kurupam, the Satrucharlas of Merangi, and the nobles of Vizianagaram.
