Srikalahasti Dakshinamurthy Abhishekam Timings History
The construction of the inner temple began in the fifth century, but the construction of the outer temple did not begin until the eleventh century. Rajendra Chola I, following Chola monarchs, and the Vijayanagara kings were responsible for the construction of the outer temple. The Hindu society holds Kalahasteeswara, Shiva’s manifestation as Vayu, in the highest regard. At the temple, Saivite principles and practices are upheld. During the most celebrated event, Maha Shivaratri, millions of believers congregate to pray for the favor of the Lord. The Utsava murtis of Shiva and Parvati will be carried on Vahanams in a procession around the temple streets for a total of thirteen days as part of the Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams.
The Linga, which is made of white stone and is a representation of Shiva, is fashioned like the trunk of an elephant. Because the altar is situated in the sanctuary, which confronts the west, the temple itself is oriented toward the south. The temple is said to have been carved out of a single rock and is said to be located at the foot of a hill. The rock-cut temple dedicated to Vinayaka is situated 9 feet (2.7 meters) below ground level. The temple is home to a number of one-of-a-kind paintings, including depictions of the deities Vallaba Ganapathi, Mahalakshmi-Ganapathi, and Sahasra Lingeswara.
A sizeable temple that is devoted to Jnanaprasanammba, who is Kalahatisvara’s wife, may be found in India. Inside the temple are tucked away discreet shrines dedicated just to the deities Kasi Viswanatha, Annapurna, Suryanarayana, Sadyoganapathi, and Subramanya. Two of the major places that may host the event are the Sadyogi Mandapa and the Jalkoti Mandapa. The Surya Pushkarani and the Chandra Pushkarani are two different bodies of water that are linked to.
