  • Among these is the Krishnaparuntu (the Brahminy Kite), which is thought to be Lord Vishnu’s conveyance, soaring high above till the jewels reach the castle. Then, as a symbol of homage to Lord Ayappan, it circles around 9 times above Sannidhanam in Sabarimala.
  • The sole star visible to us will be the Makara Jyoti, which denotes the ritual’s specialty. During this time, the Lord Ayappan Idol is jeweled, and devotees chant “Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa.”
  • The star mysteriously vanishes after the Lord is adorned in gems. Finally, a beautiful effulgence or Makaravilakku glows three times from the hills opposite Sabarimala, bringing the fortunate rite to a close.
