The Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy temple at Sholingur, which is located in the Vellore District, is one example of such a sacred location. According to local legend, individuals who visit this temple to worship the Lord would have their ailments resolved once they do so.

The historical significance of the Sholinghur Temple:

After Lord Vishnu had completed the Narasimha Avataaram at Ahobilam, which is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, he then revealed it to the Saptha rishis who were practising penance in Sholingur. As a consequence of this, it is regarded as being among the most sacred “Divya Desams on the Hill” in the entirety of Tamil Nadu.

Lord Narasimha bestowed the title of Brahma Rishi upon Sage Vishwamitra after he had performed penance for 24 minutes, which is equivalent to one Kadigai or one “Naazhigal.” The Saptha Rishis, following in the footsteps of the great sage who came before them, travelled to Sholingur to undertake penance in the expectation of obtaining a glimpse of the Narasimha Avataaram within the time limit of twenty-four minutes. One is believed to have attained moksham after meditating here for twenty-four minutes.

The spiritual significance of the Sholingur Temple:

Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy, who is depicted in this image while seated, is the presiding deity of the Big Hill Temple. The Big Hill Temple is devoted to Sri Yoga Narasimha Swamy. The other names for this creature are Thakaan and Akkarakani. The concept of riches is conveyed in Arabic through the word ackaram. This sacred location is also known by the name Kadikachlam.

Amirtha Theertham (Thakkan Kulam), Narasimma Theertham, Hanumantha Theertham, and Brahma Theertham are the four Pushkaranies that visitors to the Sholingur Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple can choose to pay homage to as part of their devotions. Brahma Theertham is the most sacred of the four.
