The Venkateswara Temple, also known as the Temple of the Lord Sri Venkateswara, is a famous Vaishnavite shrine in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, specifically in the hill station of Tirumala, Chittoor. Lord Sri Venkateswara, an avatar of Vishnu, is worshipped in the Temple because he is said to have manifested here to save humanity from the tribulations of the Kali Yuga.
Thus, the Lord of this location is known as Kaliyuga Prathyaksha Daivam, and the location itself is known as Kaliyuga Vaikuntham. The Tirumala Temple, Tirupati Temple, and Tirupati Balaji Temple are only a few of the many names by which this sacred site is known. Several other names, including Balaji, Govinda, and Srinivasa, are also used to refer to the same deity as Lord Venkateswara.
