Arunachaleswara Temple (also known as Annamalaiyar Temple) is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva located at the base of Arunachala hill in the Tamil Nadu town of Thiruvannamalai. It is significant to the Hindu faith of Shaivism as one of the Pancha Bhoota Stalas, or five elements, and specifically the element of fire, or Agni. Shiva is known as Arunachalesvara or Annamalaiyar and is represented by the lingam, with his idol known as Agni lingam. Unnamalai Amman represents his consort Parvati.

The Arunachalesvara temple is one of the five Shiva temples known as the Pancha Bhoota Stalams, each representing a different natural element: earth, water, air, sky, and fire. Shiva is claimed to have revealed himself as a gigantic column of fire in Arunachaleswara temple, whose crown and feet could not be found by the Hindu gods Brahma and Vishnu. At the end of the Agni kalpa, the primary lingam in the shrine depicts duty, morality, self-sacrifice, and freedom via austere living.
