Chidambaram temple:

The Thillai Nataraja Temple, also known as the Chidambaram Nataraja Temple, is a Hindu temple that is devoted to Nataraja, a form of Shiva that is known as the lord of dance. This temple is also known as the Chidambaram Nataraja Temple. This temple may be found in Chidambaram, which is in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. This temple dates back to ancient times, and there was previously a Shiva shrine here when the area was still referred to as Thillai.

The name of the city, Chidambaram, can be translated literally to mean “stage of consciousness.” The building of the temple represents the relationship between artistic expression and spirituality, as well as between creative endeavours and the holy. The wall carvings at the temple represent all 108 karanas from the Natya Shastra written by Bharata Muni. These postures are the basis of Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form.
