Puja Vidhi:

  1. At 12 a.m., the Masik Shivaratri puja is done. It is also known as Nishita Kaal, and it starts with worshipping Lord Shiva or the Shiv Lingam with abhishek.
  2. On this day, people give the idol Gangajal (holy water), honey, vermillion, turmeric powder, milk, curds, ghee, rose water, and bel leaves. 
  3. After that, there is a special aarti, hymns are sung, and the conch is blown. At the end of the rituals, Prasad is given to the people who took part.
  4. Diehard devotees fast on Shivaratri to make this day even more special. People think that chanting Om Namah Shivay during the fast is a good idea.
